This week Mr Devine and seven Y10 Xaverians took part in an AMSP event, ‘Taking Maths Further’ to look at the options for studying maths post GCSE. Our Xaverians started by working together to solve logical maths problems, then sat in on some really interesting sessions on ‘The Prisoner’s Dilemma’, modelling Rollercoasters in mechanics and the use of data visualisations in society today. The day culminated with an amazing talk on Maths Vs Sport looking at the maths behind a penalty shootout and running the marathon in under 2 hours (from @tomrocksmaths). It was a really interesting day for all the students and gave them food for thought about their options in the future.
