Vision:

The department aims to educate our pupils in all aspects of Business & Economics education. Students should be in a position to apply their knowledge to a wide variety of real world Business & Economics situations. Therefore ensuring success across the variety of courses we offer.

Curriculum Intent:

We want our students to gain a broad knowledge base along with transferable skills whilst achieving success in this subject. We hope to encourage and enthuse our learners in the world of business and strive to ensure that students keep up to date with current affairs.  Students can enjoy class debates and discussion where they can articulate their knowledge of industry and business in the modern world.  Ultimately we aim to provide out students with enough skills, knowledge and business acumen to go on to start their own business.

Curriculum Implementation:

We use a number of resources and teaching strategies to ensure that students have a comprehensive knowledge of the qualification specifications they are undertaking and are capable of going beyond what is taught in lessons.

We implement our curriculum by using a variety of traditional skills practice as well as other teaching strategies such as collaboration, role play, educational visits and independent learning to ensure all students share our passion for this subject.

  • Pupils are empowered and motivated to become independent learners
  • It is clear that when entering the Business and Economics area that our students are engaged and this has been praised by student voice.
  • Many of our students go on to Economics and/or Business studies at university and most importantly, students frequently express their enjoyment of their learning and their appreciation of the knowledge and study skills they have gained whilst on our courses.
