St Francis Xavier’s College students on cloud 9 as they celebrate “amazing achievements”

Students at St Francis Xavier’s College have been celebrating their GCSE results today, marking the culmination of all their hard work and dedication to their studies despite all of the disruption caused by the pandemic.

Among the smiling faces was Tom Carr who achieved five Grade 9s and five Grade 8s. Matthew Liu was also celebrating after achieving five Grade 9s and five Grade 8s.

Other top performers included Leighton Maher with three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and one Level 2 Distinction. Louis Starkey also achieved three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and one Grade 6.

Special mentions should also go to Vincent Connell, Killian Kimberley, Omar Hansen Brown, Daniel Wright, Jevvie Mehmeti, Kieran Selby and Finn Knubley who all achieved some of the very top grades across their subjects.

David Hayes, Headteacher at St Francis Xavier’s College, said: “These are grades that these students rightly deserve.

“Since I have been at this school I have been impressed by how our students really do push for the very best. Their grades are testament to their talents, but also their resilience and determination. They really do epitomise everything it means to be a Xaverian.”

“While today is about our students, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported them on their journey – for coming together and providing the stability and encouragement needed to enable them to continue to shine.”

“Our parents have been incredibly supportive and engaged. Our staff have not just supported our students, but they have also challenged themselves to embrace new ways of teaching. In addition, every staff member has gone above and beyond to support our students. From our cleaners who have worked so hard to keep the school open, to the wider team of support staff who have gone above and beyond. It has been a real team effort.”
