Pupil Premium

St Francis Xavier’s strives to build a Catholic Christian community of love and respect, to educate young people to meet the challenges of life confidently, to develop their unique talents to the full, and to live out the values of Christ and his Gospel. It is our belief that it is the educational right of all pupils to receive a comprehensive education committed to academic excellence, regardless of background or social standing.

We intend to use the Pupil Premium funding to further existing provisions and to introduce new strategies for students identified as socially disadvantaged. The interventions we action aim to reduce the gap between the progress made by Pupil Premium students and their peers.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the achievement of Disadvantaged Students and close the attainment gap between them and their peers.

St Francis Xavier’s College’s objectives in spending the Pupil Premium Grant are as follows:

  • Improving attainment and progress of higher ability children in receipt of the Pupil Premium, particularly in Science and the Open element.
  • Ensuring Disadvantaged pupils have access to the same opportunities as non-disadvantaged. (Other) pupils; Disadvantaged pupil’s career knowledge and aspirations are raised in school and for future destinations.
  • Improving the Quality of Education for Disadvantaged pupils.
  • Strengthening and maintaining positive home-school relationships with harder to reach families.
