Casual Exam Invigilators

St Francis Xavier’s College, founded in 1842, is a Catholic Converter Academy with a co-educational Sixth Form with a strong academic tradition and 1000 pupils across KS3/4. The Sixth Form has strong collaborative links with partner schools across the city.

ROLE DETAILS

The role of an Invigilator is to supervise students undertaking school examinations in compliance of school and legal requirements.  Good spoken and written English is essential as you may be required to act as readers or scribes for students requiring additional support.  This role is key in the delivery of examination processes and procedures from beginning to end.

Exam Invigilators are paid on an hourly basis and are required for a series of morning, afternoon or all day sessions.

For morning sessions you need to be available from 8.30am and afternoon sessions from 1pm.

This role requires standing and occasional walking to be able to oversee the students.

PERSONAL QUALITIES 

An ideal candidate will be flexible, have good effective communication skills and be a reassuring presence to students in the exam room under exam conditions.

Previous experience of working as an invigilator within a school would be an advantage, but is not required, as successful applicant’s will receive full training to enable you to carry out the role effectively and in accordance with JCQ exam regulations.

Knowledge of current curriculum developments in the subject and their implications;

  • Ability to build and sustain professional standards and relationships with students
  • Ability to contribute towards creating a safe and protective environment
  • A passion for education and making a difference
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Energy, enthusiasm, good sense of humour
  • Emotional maturity and resilience in dealing with challenging behaviours
